Overview
Jon represents management across all areas of labor and employment law.
He handles cases in both in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, addressing issues such as employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wage and hour disputes, including class and collective actions. in addition to his broad employment practice, Jon is experienced in traditional labor matters, including arbitrations and collective bargaining negotiations before the National Labor Relations Board. He also has extensive experience in public sector labor, representing large municipalities in state and federal courts, State Employment Relations Board hearings, union negotiations, grievance arbitrations, and other related forums.
Jon provides counseling and training on best practices for a variety of human resource issues, including terminations, compliance with employment laws, workplace investigations, and the preparation of policies and employment agreements. He is OSHA 30 certified and regularly advises employers on Occupational Safety and Health Act compliance.
Representative Experience.
- Obtained summary judgment for clients in manufacturing, healthcare and the public sector in multiple employment cases involving claims of sexual harassment, breach of employment contract, and promissory estoppel.
- Obtained dismissal of numerous Unfair Labor Practice Charges and requests for representation before the National Labor Relations Board and the State Employment Relations Board.
- Represented companies and organizations of various sizes in complex union election campaigns
- Successfully advocated for management in grievance arbitration, including upholding disciplinary removal cases and contract interpretation cases.
- Successfully represented a large municipality in numerous unemployment compensation hearings.
- Represented management at the bargaining table in multiple industries across the United States.
- Successfully negotiated numerous collective bargaining agreements in healthcare facilities across the state of Ohio.
- Advised clients on complex employee handbook and policy issues, including leave, wage and hour, discrimination, and other sensitive employee issues.
- Assisted manufacturing and healthcare companies in drafting complex data privacy and computer device policies.
- Assisted companies navigate complex pension disputes in order to obtain favorable outcomes.
