Overview

Andrew's practice focuses on employment law and labor relations. He advises and represents employers in a broad range of matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breaches of non-competition and other types of employment agreements. Andrew has appeared on behalf of management in state and federal courts and before arbitrators and various administrative agencies. Andrew also has represented employers in traditional labor matters, including at arbitrations and before the National Labor Relations Board and State Employment Relations Board.

When not involved in active litigation, Andrew counsels employers of all sizes on key issues, such as employee discipline, employee handbook and policy development, leave administration, wage and hour compliance, and various aspects of the collective bargaining process. Andrew also drafts employment agreements and state-specific policies.

Practices

      • Successfully rescinded a temporary restraining order and won a preliminary injunction hearing against union that sought to prevent employer from relocating employee training.
      • Obtained summary judgment of wrongful termination, fraud, and defamation claims in private arbitration proceeding on behalf of national apartment developer and property manager.
      • Advised auto manufacturer navigating complex employee termination situation.
      • Successfully defended against union's attempts to vacate significant suspension and discharge of employee.
      • Drafted employment policies to comply with state-specific laws in 17 different states on behalf of nationwide contract research organization.
      • Obtained dismissal of numerous employment-discrimination charges before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of manufacturing company.
    • Represented a small municipality in an unemployment compensation hearing and appeal.
    • Represented both small and large municipalities in labor arbitrations.
    • Assisted municipalities with unfair labor practice charges before the State Employment Relations Board.
