Thomas G. Haren Named Incoming President-Elect of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation

Partner Thomas G. Haren was recently named incoming President-Elect of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation (CMBF). Tom will serve in the role for the 2026-2027 term before stepping into the presidency in 2027-2028.

Tom is an active member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA), having previously served on the CMBA Board of Trustees in 2018. His new role with the Foundation continues his record of service to the Northeast Ohio legal community.

In the July/August edition of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Journal, Tom discussed what his vision of progress for the bar looks like.

“Moving the bar forward means investing in lawyers at every career stage, giving them the tools, mentorship, and connections to grow successful practices,” Tom said. “It also means upholding our profession’s core obligations: defending the rule of law and ensuring justice remains accessible to all who need it.”

Tom represents licensed operators and ancillary service providers, advising cannabis clients on issues including license acquisition, corporate transactions, litigation, day-to-day business matters, strategic planning, municipal law, and regulatory compliance. He has led some of the largest M&A deals in the Ohio cannabis market, representing both the selling license holders and acquiring entities.

The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation brings together Northeast Ohio’s legal, business, and civic leaders to increase access to legal services and create professional development opportunities across the region through the funding of free legal clinics, youth and workforce development programs, and educational pipeline initiatives.
