Overview
Travis is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Law Practice Group, advising and defending businesses on all aspects of the practice, including leave management, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and non-competition. He brings experience representing clients before various state and federal administrative agencies and courts. He also has experience with bargaining and labor management.
In addition to his litigation and advisory work, Travis negotiates a variety of commercial agreements, including confidentiality, consulting, direct-hire, executive placement, purchase, sales, service, and staffing agreements, and provides tailored training programs for clients on topics including ADA and FMLA compliance, sexual harassment prevention, and workplace conduct.
Prior to rejoining Frantz Ward, Travis served as Corporate Counsel at an international manufacturer, where he managed a litigation portfolio of cases involving commercial law, employment law, Proposition 65, and product liability. He advised day-to-day operations and commercial functions, including the implementation of various compliance programs, negotiation of commercial agreements, all labor and employment matters, and certain due diligence functions related to mergers and acquisitions.
Representative Experience
- Advocated for management in labor arbitration proceedings regarding maintenance of the status quo as it relates to insurance benefits.
- Drafted various employee handbooks, non-compete agreements, and separation agreements.
- Negotiated a contract with fire and police departments through fact-finding avoiding conciliation.
- Obtained dismissal of employment-discrimination charges before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
- Represented management before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission in dispute regarding, among other things, employee misconduct.
- Successfully represented management in claims for unemployment compensation.
- Successfully represented a University in federal court for claims of wrongfully withheld union dues under Janus and obtained indemnification money from the Union.
