Growing Season: Will Ohio Be a Different State?

By late July/early August 2017, Ohio residents will know who and where the medical marijuana cultivators will be located. Applications for cultivator licenses will be due in June 2017. The Ohio Department of Commerce is preparing for this by releasing application instructions, presenting a webinar, and answering written questions concerning the process.

The instructions should be available on medicalmarijuana.ohio.gov within the next two to three weeks. The webinar is planned for late April 2017. A written question and answer period will be conducted immediately after the webinar.  Written questions may be sent via email at mmcp.com.ohio.gov.

The Level II application submission period will be in early to mid-June 2017. The Level I application submission period will be in mid to late June 2017. The Department will review the submitted applications in July 2017. Applications will be split into two sections: (1) Section 1 will have identifiable information and will be rated on a pass/fail basis as to whether the requirements in O.A.C. § 3796:2-1-03 are met; and (2) Section 2 will have non-identifiable information and will be rated with a numerical score as to whether the requirements in O.A.C. § 3796:2-1-02 are met. By the end of this year, Ohio will be a different state indeed.
