Ian H. Frank Designated by DRBF as Professional & Dispute Board Practitioner
Ian H. Frank was recently designated by the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF) as a Professional & Dispute Board Practitioner. This new designation showcases Ian’s dedication to dispute avoidance, decreasing the amount of litigated construction claims, and resolving and preventing claims through the Dispute Board process.
A Dispute Resolution Board (DRB) is an impartial panel of professionals formed at the start of a construction project to follow its progress, encourage dispute avoidance, and aid in the resolution of disputes for the duration of the project. Their continued guidance is crucial throughout a project’s lifecycle, promoting efficiency, reducing legal risk, and supporting smoother task execution.
As a member of the DRBF for the last 15 years, Ian is a sought after DRB Practitioner particularly in regard to tunneling and other infrastructure projects. He draws from experience being:
- a certified and trained DRB professional with:
- California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) as well as
- New York City’s Department of Design and Construction
- a frequent DRB panelist.
Ian is a trusted advisor to the construction industry, dedicating his entire practice to all aspects of construction and surety law. He is frequently involved in large, technically complex construction projects around the country and overseas, whether developing contract documents to manage risk, counseling clients on claim management and performance disputes, acting as project counsel, or arbitrating and litigating claims.
The DRBF is a non-profit organization with over 1,400 members in more than 90 countries who are committed to promoting the use of the unique Dispute Board method, which has been proven to work as an alternative method in dispute resolution. Outside of promoting its use, the DRBF provides guidance on implementing tailored Dispute Boards and training Dispute Board practitioners.
