Matthew J. Wiles

Matt concentrates his practice in the transportation and logistics industry, primarily representing freight brokers in a wide range of litigation and arbitration. Matt has deep experience with disputes involving restrictive covenants and trade secrets, employment matters, significant cargo claims, double broker scams, carrier disputes, and hostage loads, as well as a variety of other related cases in state and federal courts in California. He serves as outside counsel for complex and contested litigation for one of the largest freight brokers in the United States, representing the company’s interests in disputes involving offices across the United States.    

Matt advocates for clients before state and federal courts, arbitration panels, and administrative agencies. In addition, he advises companies in pre-litigation dispute avoidance and resolution, helping them evaluate risk and pursue creative solutions outside of litigation.

Matt also has years of experience in all manners of other civil and business litigation. Prior to focusing on the transportation and logistics industry, Matt frequently represented clients in construction and oil and gas disputes. He also handled software development, trademark infringement, contractual, labor disputes, and for the past several years, Matt has served as outside general counsel for clients with California-specific business and employment issues.

Licensed in both Ohio and California and admitted to all federal and state trial courts in both states, as well as the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Matt expands Frantz Ward’s practice into Columbus and Central Ohio.
