is the recipient of the Legacy of Justice Award, the highest pro bono award bestowed by The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. Pat was chosen as the recipient based on the devotion of his time and energy serving Legal Aid clients as a past Board Member, Chair of the Pro Bono Committee, and through hours of time in the Volunteer Lawyers Program. The award will be presented on November 25, 2019 at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown.

secures justice and resolves fundamental problems for those who are low income and vulnerable by providing high quality legal services. Legal Aid handles cases that impact basic needs such as health, shelter and safety, economics and education, and access to justice. Attorneys practice in the areas of consumer rights, domestic violence, education, employment, family law, health, housing, foreclosure, immigration, public benefits, utilities, and tax.
Pat is the Chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and serves as national trial counsel for several companies. Pat is the Best Lawyers’ 2020 Lawyer of the Year for Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions-Defendants in Cleveland. He has been named to The Best Lawyers in America and Ohio Super Lawyers, and is consistently rated AV Preeminent, the highest ranking, for professional and ethical excellence by Martindale-Hubbell. Pat created the firm’s Cannabis Law and Policy Group in response to the increasingly complex issues surrounding the legalization of medical marijuana and hemp. This work has extended to providing representation to clients involving the vast array of issues created by the national movement to legalize hemp and recreational cannabis. He received his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and his B.A. from McGill University.
